The big secret about the VIRUZ!

The launch of the South African Arts and Development Association (SAADA) in partnership with the National Lottery Distribution Fund and CAN DO!, in March this year, will nurture 1000 budding artists in various creative fields to ensure sustainability of careers in the arts, improvement in productivity and effectiveness of artists in the industry.

This is the brain child of King of Kwaito and chairman of SAADA, Arthur Mafokate, who says he will give beneficiaries a platform to express their talents and enhance their business acumen. Other local artists that will be part of the project include Oskido, Kelly Khumalo, Dr Malinga and Cassper Nyovest.

This is a great initiative, however, it does not cater for all the other thousands of other up-coming artists without mentorship and exposure to the relevant resources to create a name for themselves in the South African entertainment industry.

That’s were the role of Watville born kasiprenuer and former Umoja dancer, Xolane Ngobozana, comes in.

This talented and handsome young man has performed at events as big as the 2010 FIFA World Cup, Miss World and even Jacob Zuma’s traditional wedding. His talent took him to countries such as Swaziland, Ghana, Kenya and Russia, just to name a few. He has featured on various radio and TV shows including Ukhozi FM, Jozi FM, Soweto TV and the Dj Sbu Breakfast show.

He identified the need for mentorship and moulding of up-coming young talent in the entertainment industry and took a leap of faith by starting a business that focused exactly on that, despite the lack of support for the South African entertainment industry.

Xolane, well known by the name Voro, started Viruz Empire Entertainment where they manage artists, market, promote, advertise, do events and PR. They have signed amazing talent such as Chillie Red Peppers, Tido, Bee Stunna and Scratch, just to name a few. Some of his artists managed to receive various awards at the SAFUAWARDS 2014. Such great stuff for a company that’s been running for only 3 years!

This youth leader has managed to scoop himself various awards for being the artist and business man he is. These awards include:  Best Youth Achiever at SAFUAWARDS2013  Young Entrepreneur on the Move at Ekurhuleni Mayoral Awards 2014  Finalist at Standard Bank Rising Star Awards for Best Media and Advertising Company Owner  Youth Owned Business on the Move at Ekurhuleni Mayoral Awards 2015.
