On the 11th of February 1990 Nelson Mandela was finally released from Victor Verster prison. He came out with his then wife Winnie Madikizela-Mandela with a raised fist in the air after being jailed for 27 years.
His photograph hadn’t been seen in a long time as it had been banned by the apartheid regime and his voice hadn’t been heard in a long time either.
This indelible moment was captured by photographers, journalists, television and radio broadcasters to share the return of our hero with the whole world.
If it wasn’t for the media, such memories would be unknown and we wouldn’t be educated sufficiently. The media industry plays an extremely important role in society, although controversial at times, its presence is necessary.
Lwazi Nyanakancesh Nongauza , a young entrepreneur with substance, identified this importance at a very young age. He is the owner of an amazing online publication, Dream Afrika (www.dreamafrika.com), that serves as an inspirational source and hub for academic excellence; focusing on African youth leadership, African Innovation, African Entrpreneural excellence and African Education.
He is professionally trained in Film, Radio, Television, voice over and performing arts.
His media experience includes ENCA Media manager, SABC 2’s Hectic 9Nine, Radio Zibonele, Switzerland TV, Ibhola Labantu, Spotlight News, Mzansi Post, Football 24… I wouldn’t finish if I went on. He has also been involved in production assistance on the unforgettable Stokvel and Shooting Stars as well.
The handsome Lwazi
When I met him for the very first time at a business seminar at Constitution Hill, he came across as shy and quiet, until I actually spoke to him. The only words that came out of his mouth were that of wisdom, motivation and creativity. He is a humble and accommodating individual that I wouldn’t mind being around all day.
The main thing that attracts me about him is his passion for human rights advocacy for minority groups. He has an NPO, Lwazi Nyanakancesh Nongauza Foundation, which facilitates academic financial assistance for physically challenged people who want to further their studies. “The essence of my ideal study financial assistance is to help disadvantaged communities through uplifting disadvantaged people,” he said.
The country is indeed safe in the hands of such exceptional leaders like Lwazi.
He also has a PR company that manages some of the most influential daughters and sons of the soil, including, Mosa Moamogoe (25 year old founder of an international travel agency called AfriTravel International), Sonwabile Ndamase ( entrepreneur/fashion designer that used to design Madiba T-shirts) and Boitumelo Katisi (one of Africa’s young female pilot). They will also be featured on this work-of-art of mine 😊.
Meeting him was such a blessing and I am sure it is in the lives of everyone that gets to meet him. He has co-written a book, Ayee (ISBN 9780796921796), and has an outstanding academic track record. He is also an Eye Africa South Africa correspondent and anchor – definitely a force to be reckoned with!
I wonder what he is going to do next, because from what we can see above, he has done almost everything possible. We should definitely watch the space; people like him never stop going, no matter what.
Like my colleague, Mafule Moswane, would say, “he is indeed the one we have been waiting for!”
